was formed in 1778 from
Augusta County, named for the Marquis of Rockingham, British
statesman.
The County seat is Harrisonburg,
which was made
a town by act of Assembly in May of 1780.
Rockingham is located in the
heart of the beautiful
Shenandoah Valley.
